Not your mother’s hot chocolate

‘Tis the season for freezing weather and nothing beats a cup of “old fashioned” hot chocolate on a chilly day. As the temperature continues to drop, be sure to try these simple yet tantalizing hot chocolate recipes; guaranteed to keep you warm!

Cookies and Cream Hot Chocolate:

Yes, you read that correctly; cookies and cream hot chocolate. What could be better? Save this recipe for a day when you need a sweet treat!

Ingredients-

1.  2 cups milk

2.  ½ cup hot chocolate powder

3.  4-5 Oreos (crush some for the top)

4.  Whipped cream

Instructions-

1.  Warm the milk on the stove on low heat. Keep an eye on it and be sure the milk doesn’t boil.

2.  Add the hot chocolate powder to the milk and stir as you do.

3.  Grind the Oreos into a fine powder.

4.  Add the Oreo powder to the warm milk and powder mix. Continue to stir.

5.  Top off with whip cream and crumble Oreos on top.

6.  Enjoy!

Peppermint Hot Chocolate:

This beverage is perfect for any winter day. Pair with your favorite winter movie and get in the holiday spirit!

Ingredients-

1.  2 cups milk

2.  ½ cup hot chocolate powder

3.  Peppermint extract (2-4 drops depending on taste)

4.  Whipped Cream

Instructions-

1.  Warm the milk on the stove on low heat. Be sure the milk doesn’t reach boiling point.

2.  Add the hot chocolate powder as you stir.

3.  Next, start by adding just a couple of drops of peppermint extract. If the mint taste isn’t strong enough add more. Do this after the stove is off and the mixture has cooled a bit.

4.  Enjoy!

Nutella Hot Chocolate:

If you love Nutella, this might be your new favorite drink. Or, try Nutella Hot Chocolate for a new and different taste.

Ingredients-

1.  2 cups milk

2.  1/3 cup Nutella

3.  Whipped Cream

Instructions-

1.  Warm the milk and the Nutella simultaneously. Again, be sure the combination is warmed, but not boiling hot.

2.  Top off with whipped cream and enjoy!
