Need an excuse to dress up as your favorite literary character? Sigma Tau Delta may be able to help.

Sigma Tau Delta will host a Victorian Feast from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the A. A. Smith House.

The Victorian Feast is an annual event by Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honors society. An homage to Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” it is a celebration of literature and the upcoming festive season, according to Dr. Sohinee Roy, one of the event organizers.

The event is always held between Halloween and Thanksgiving, around Week 8, Roy said. Traditions of the event include new members being inducted, a literary trivia game, and food.

“But the most fun part of the event is the dress code,” Roy said. “Invitees are encouraged to dress as their favorite literary character or author.” This dress code was something Roy and Dr. Dee Anna Phares introduced when they took over as advisors a year ago.

Roy said: “After all, what is a party for English majors, that is right after Halloween, without dress-up that celebrates the authors and characters that drew us to literature!”
