Urban gardening combats food deserts

The USDA defines food deserts as geographic locations that lack access to healthy meal options such as, fruits and vegetables. These areas, often located in urban areas or on the outskirts of cities, are heavily populated with fast food chains or general stores that provide a mediocre variety of fruits and vegetables. Urban agriculture is a movement that has helped eradicate food deserts all around the country.
