NCC to rescind Hastert honorary degree

North Central College has announced its intention to revoke former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert’s honorary degree from the College.

Hastert, 74, was sentenced to 15 months in prison in April for paying “hush-money” to an anonymous man who alleged that Hastert molested him on a wrestling camp trip many years earlier.

Also, Hastert was recently accused in April of sexually abusing four high school boys when he was a coach at Yorkville High School decades ago.

Hastert received an honorary doctorate of laws from Northern Illinois University in 1999, which was officially revoked in May.

In 2003, he received his second doctorate from North Central College. He also delivered the commencement address to the College at the Class of 2004 graduation.
