Roxane Gay, author, professor, and cultural critic, will visit North Central College on Jan. 17, as part of Martin Luther King Jr. Week. In this year’s celebration, Gay is the keynote speaker.

In the past, the college has had notable speakers such as Patrisse Cullors, an African-American activist from Los Angeles known as the co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Movement, and Dr. Cornell West, an American philosopher and political activist.

Gay’s discussion on issues of feminism and the current political state preceding president-elect Donald J. Trump’s inauguration will start at 7 p.m. in Wentz Concert Hall.

Tickets are free to the North Central College community and $5 a person to the public. Copies of Gay’s book, “Difficult Women” will be available for purchase and signing at the end of her discussion.
