Cardinals vs. Thunder: Does a rivalry get any better than this?

0

The weekend is what most people look forward to as they continue to age — a chance to regroup, relax and watch more TV than not. As Saturday quickly approaches, the desire for football is not far behind. And that’s what Saturday’s are for, right? Many people across the nation love watching college football regardless of the level at which it’s played.

And like many other people and schools across the nation, the excitement and nerves can be felt on the campus of North Central College once more as Saturday swiftly creeps up on us all. The Cardinals are looking forward to a rematch against the Wheaton Thunder. What happened the last time these two teams played? The rivalry only progressed and intensified as the Thunder defeated the Cardinals 31-14 in the second round of the playoffs.

The game on Saturday offers a chance at redemption, a chance to banish the playoff demons incurred and suffered last November at the hands of their biggest rival. Emotions will be high and the fans will try to make their presence known as they pack McCully Stadium — a 7 p.m. kickoff on a Saturday night? Yeah, expect the stadium to be loud. And players will need to adjust and adapt.

Heading into the game on Saturday, the Cardinals have a record of 5-0, whereas the Thunder have a record of 4-2. One team will leave with a win and the other will leave with bitter disappointment and an agonizing desire for a rematch.
