Spring fashion makes a statement at the Kid’s Choice Awards
Young Hollywood stars stepped out onto the orange carpet for the 27th annual Kid’s Choice Awards on Saturday, March 29. The fear of being slimed didn’t intimidate anyone from rocking the latest trends. In no particular order, here are a few looks that I loved and some that were completely slime-worthy.
Ariana Grande wearing Aiisha Ramadan
Ariana’s look is so cute and appropriate for the Kid’s Choice Awards. Her orange tube-dress is the perfect color and she’s showing just the right amount of skin. Ariana usually rocks the “throwback chic” look with floral prints and sparkly frocks, but she opted for a simpler style by wearing a tight-fitting tube dress in a solid color. I love how she decided to wear her hair straight instead of the usual half ponytail. My favorite part of the overall look is her purse! It’s Chanel and it has Nickelodeon characters on it. She had a successful night by winning favorite TV actress. Go Ariana!
Zendaya wearing an Oscar de la Renta top and Chanel heels
Zendaya definitely took a risk on the orange carpet, but it paid off. Her look is borderline casual with the frayed jean shorts, but she dresses it up with a stunning Oscar de la Renta top and Chanel shoes. Wearing socks with shoes is a big trend seen on the runway in during New York Fashion Week in February and she rocked it. She has legs for days, which is why she can pull off heels with socks. I like her hair in a messy bun and I love her makeup. She was one of the few that chose to wear a red lip, which is gorgeous and adds some color to the overall look.
Kaley Cuoco wearing Rebecca Minkoff blazer/shorts and BCBG heels
At first glance, I hate this look. At second glance, I hate this look even more. I wish that Kaley wouldn’t have worn the blazer and shorts together. The pieces should be worn separately because together it’s an overwhelming outfit. The blazer doesn’t fit her correctly, it looks too big and the sleeves go way past her wrists. The shoes are too clunky and cut off her ankles, which makes her legs appear shorter. Her hair is also a mess, she looks like she forgot about the event and at the last second she threw on what was in her closet, put her hair in a messy bun, and ran out the door. Good thing she got slimed so she was forced to take this mess of an outfit off! Worst dressed of the night.
Lea Michele wearing Elie Saab
Lea had her princess moment on the orange carpet. This peach-pink, lacy dress is adorable. The contrast between her hair and the fabric look great together. Her hair is sultry in a faux bob and her makeup is fresh and pretty. She usually wears skin-tight dresses and I think this is a nice departure from her usual style. The color of the fabric works well with her skin tone and a nude heel is a great choice to pull this look together.
Victoria Justice wearing Atelier Versace and Jimmy Choo heels
The color-combination on Victoria’s dress is gorgeous. The fit is immaculate with the cross stitching and the print isn’t overwhelming on her. The black shoes complement the dress because it pulls from the black in the print of the dress. The length works because it’s not too short or too long. I also love that she matched her manicure to her dress with mint green nail polish. Her makeup is flawless with a smoky eye and nude lips. Victoria has my vote for best dressed at the Kid’s Choice Awards. So beautiful!
Jayma Mays wearing Timo Weiland and Jimmy Choo Heels
First of all, Jayma looks so happy! It’s obvious that she loves what she’s wearing. The dress is fun and flirty with see-through paneling at the neckline, midriff, and bottom of the skirt. The print screams spring with the color scheme. Her hair color is a beautiful rusty red and styled in soft waves. She’s rocking a smoky eye and nude lips, which seems to be very popular on the orange carpet. My only critique is the shoes. I like her shoes, I just think that she could have chosen a better pair to go with the dress. Overall, a great look!
Peta Murgatroyd wearing a Self Portrait jumpsuit and Christian Louboutin heels
When I first looked at Peta, I thought she was Margot Robbie from The Wolf of Wall Street. Her overall look is so severe and sexy, but it works. The cutouts and paneling create a flawless fit. I love the gold embellishments from the gold-chained choker and gold zippers for the pockets. The pants end at the right spot on her ankle and the black, strappy Louboutins work perfectly with the jumpsuit. Her hair parted on the side creates a mysterious look. Her stance is so confident and powerful that she almost looks intimidating. She’s a standout and commands attention from the crowd in the only jumpsuit on the orange carpet.
Kira Kosarin wearing Peggy Hartanto and Gucci heels
Royal blue is my absolute favorite color. The best part about this color is that it looks good on any skin tone. The neckline of the dress is flattering and the cutouts make the dress fun and interesting. Her waist is cinched in with a gold-plated belt and the skirt fans out in a fun and flirty way. Her Katniss-inspired hair is styled in a braid and her makeup is a smoky eye with a nude lip. This look is age-appropriate and a great choice for the Kid’s Choice Awards.
Bella Thorne wearing Valentino
I have mixed feelings about this look. The jumpsuit is cute and fits her really well, but I think it’s a little too dressed up for the Kid’s Choice Awards. This award show is supposed to be relaxed and fun. She looks like she’s going to a really nice dinner, not a fun award show for kids. The color emerald reminds me of Christmas and it’s the beginning of spring. I do like her hair in a half ponytail and side bangs. The shoes go great with the jumpsuit, but again, it’s not the right outfit for a kid’s award show.
