As per campus tradition, North Central College will be hosting Family Weekend events from Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5. Students are, of course, urged to invite their families to join in the various activities provided.
The weekend festivities will start off Friday night with a Student Musical Showcase at the Union music venue at 7p.m. Later on there will be Family Bowling Night at the Naperville Brunswick Zone. See how you stack up against your parents while socializing with other families in a friendly, casual setting. Bowling starts at 8 p.m. and ends sometime around 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. To round off Friday evening, mentalist Chris Carter will be showcasing his unique psychological talents at 9:30 p.m. in Pfeiffer Hall.
For those whose families will be coming from out of town, Historic Campus Walking Tours will be given every hour between 9 a.m. and 11a.m. on Saturday, October 4 to showcase the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding the campus and the bustling downtown Naperville streets. Alternatively, free Trolley Tours of Napeville will be given every half hour between 9a.m. and 11a.m. For the more meditative family members, Zumba classes are being offered on the same day at 9a.m. at the third floor lounge of Res/Rec.
Later on Saturday, at 4p.m., don’t miss the opportunity to kickoff the Cardinal football celebration with the Cardinal Fan Fest outside of Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Championship Plaza, where merchandise, refreshments, music and good times will be available for all.
Afterwards, families will head into the stadium for the showdown between the North Central Cardinals and the Millikin University Big Blues at 6p.m. Also enjoy halftime performances by NCC’s pep band the Red Noise, the Cardinal Cheerleaders, the Cardinal Dance Team, and the Color Guard.
Finally, enjoy the comedic musical stylings of Ben McLain and Paul Peglar, better known as Dakaboom on Saturday evening. Utilizing a vast variety of musical styles and a distinct blend of music and humor, Dakaboom will be performing their one of a kind show at 9p.m. in Wentz Concert Hall.
And before waving goodbye to your parents as they drive off into the sunset, don’t forget to stop by Kaufman Dining Hall for a genuine college brunch between 10a.m. and 1p.m.
This year’s Family Weekend event is shaping up to be one of the best, so don’t miss this opportunity to show your family what North Central College has to offer!
