As the leaves begin to fall and the temperature begins to drop, sweater weather has officially arrived at North Central along with some fall trends that will spice up anyone’s wardrobe on campus.
Fall jackets are a must-have to anyone’s attire this season. Invest in a stylish yet durable jacket that will last you for a couple of years. If you are feeling thrifty, repurpose an old jacket to save money; we are college kids after all.
Go faux and try a vegan leather jacket as seen photographed on a North Central student. She is seen wearing a faux leather jacket paired with a neutral colored cotton shirt and accessorized in a bright orange scarf with edgy combat boots. Faux leather has been very much in style in 2014 and will be bigger than ever this season. Give a little sneak peek of your coolness by wearing your leather jacked under an oversized printed coat. This is an idea that is seen from the pages of Vogue and will add both warmth and style to your fall outfit.
When the cooler weather hits, you can bring your stay-at-home cozy fashions to the streets without any trace of shame this year. Fashion designers like Sarah Burton and the Olson twins, of The Row, sent their models down the runway in oversized frocks and thick, chunky knits at this year’s Paris Fashion Week. Try on a thick, knitted scarf this season as seen on one of the pictured North Central students, who has paired her forest green knit scarf with dark green round dangle earrings. Or even invest in a comfy, oversized cardigan similar to a North Central student who has paired her oversized dark-blue knit cardigan with a simple yet classic striped tank top.
One of the best parts of fall is shoe shopping. Cold enough to finally break out the boots, but still warm enough that you can wear sandals now and then, there is a diversity of shoes that can be worn during the fall. For all of you shoe enthusiasts, the fall runways were overflowing in some completely envy worthy options. One of the most popular trends of the season is the knee-high boot. According to the Zoe Report, “With the ‘60s trend in full swing for fall it makes total sense to pair your mod-inspired shift or micro mini with a pair of knee-high boots.” This North Central student was seen rocking a pair of suede light gray knee-high boots matched with simple skinny jeans and a cream cardigan with crochet detailing. Take notes, to make extravagant and over the top runway trends more wearable for everyday, try pairing them with casual pieces like skinny jeans, a plain t-shirt or a cardigan.
Jump right into the new season and try something new to update your unique look. With fall temperatures varying, a piece can transition from September right on into December and can even be worn during the early months of spring. Now that is what I call an investment!
