All it takes is a few steps. A few steps out of your own familiar backyard to seek out a new environment that you may not have noticed before; an environment that has been cultivated and nurtured for years, but managed to discreetly slip under your nose.
For North Central College students, it’s not difficult to branch out and roam the historic streets of Naperville. With the downtown atmosphere situated merely steps away from campus, there are plenty of opportunities to discover hidden treasures of the community. Local, homegrown businesses, unique and eccentric boutiques; Naperville’s got them, and it’s time for us to explore them.
The NCClinked staff has created a multi-media platform that jumpstarts this exploration. “GPS,” standing for “Goods. Places. Services.” is a website that takes you within a one-mile radius of campus, highlighting different businesses and organizations that help to make up Naperville’s community. Sift through picture galleries and view a wide range of places to “do, drink, eat and see” things at. Read through short descriptions and start to uncover the background stories behind some of Naperville’s finest. Start your search on the community that surrounds you here, and finish it by traveling to the locations that sparked your intrigue. Naperville is your oyster, and GPS is here to help in the process.
There’s a world just a few steps away from the North Central campus. Join us in discovering it by visiting GPS at http://www.ncclinked.com/gps/.
