2016 may seem a long ways off, but when it comes to the government, it’s already taking center stage.

Although the actual presidential election date is not until November 8, 2016 candidates for the presidential election are slowly starting to be announced to the public. The New York Times reported on Monday, April 13, 2015, the current candidates: Democrat Hilary Clinton, Republican Ted Cruz, Republican Rand Paul, and Republican Marco Rubio.

These are the four most current candidates that have officially been announced and made public of their choice to run in the election. Each party still has some possible candidates who are debating whether or not they will run. So far, The New York Times have recorded the Democratic Party has three other people interested, while the Republican Party has nine people possibly interested.

One of the first candidates to announce their choice to run was Texas’s Senator Ted Cruz. He was the first to declare his decision to run for president via Twitter. The tweet, which was published on Monday, March 22, read, “I’m running for President and I hope to earn your support!” A 30 second video was also attached to the tweet. According to Fox news Cruz announced that he made a promise to the nation to bring back a government that follows the Constitution and will “stand for liberty.”

The second candidate to be announced was Kentucky’s Senator and Republican Rand Paul. Paul announced his candidacy on Tuesday April 7. According to the New York Times, this Libertarian Conservative candidate stated in his speech at the Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky, that he plans to stop the U.S. government from invading every aspect of American citizen’s lives. He also stated that he had the vision of a small U.S. government and blamed both parties for failing the U.S. He stated that he is the one who will lead America back onto the road of prosperity.

Former Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, is running for the second time for the Democratic Party in the 2016 presidential election. She was the third to announce her decision to run. Clinton is the first Democrat who has announced her decision to run for president, which she made public on Sunday, April 12. She states that her mission is to directly interact with the voters as part of her campaign process. The angle that Clinton and her staff are using for the election, according to CNN news, is to reintroduce the former first lady to the American people.

The fourth and most recent announcement came from Florida’s Senator Marco Rubio. According to CNN news, Rubio will be announcing his bid for the ballot tonight, Monday, April 13, which will state his promises to America if he were to become the next president. One of the promises that he has made public is to resurrect and restore the American Dream.
