Why senior year will be the best year of your college life

0

When it comes to senior year, your last year of college, you get scared. You have a right to be scared, of course, but throughout the whole entire year. Senior year is your last chance to get out all the “kid” and you and to just be stupid one last time. Even though responsibilities are building up, there are still a lot of things you can cross off your bucket list before you trade in your red solo cup for a diploma.

Go see the world before it won’t be able to see you:

Take advantage of those study abroad opportunities that you were skeptical of before. Even if it’s a D-term trip or a last-minute birthday present from your parents, just go. You may never get a chance to see other parts of the world until after you retire and in need of stronger eye lenses. Even if it’s not something that you can put on a resume, experiencing new cultures and possibly coming home with a British or Italian accent could be enough to make you feel more adventurous and independent. Make your future count and go see the world before it no longer sees you.

If you’re feeling 22, then go be 22:

This is also a last opportunity to take advantage of not worrying about responsibilities like paying rent or working 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. five days a week. When your last spring break rolls around, don’t just go home. Go home, pack a bag, grab some friends and head to Panama City Beach. Surround yourself with thousands of other college students, free concerts and lots of sunshine. Can’t make it to Florida? Use your weekends to go clubbing in Chicago or look for bars with weekend promotions. Rather stay within your hometown area? Look for summer concerts from artists that have already began their tour and enjoy the thrill of your favorite music.

Spare time to sleep in:

Anyone can make up the excuse that you simply do not have time to sleep in. The thing is, you really can. Pick a day during the weekend to sleep in past 9 a.m. and wake up feeling the most refreshed in months. If you really cannot commit to sleeping through the morning, devote at least one hour to take a nap between classes and work. A nap may be more refreshing than a couple hours into a good night sleep and will help you pull through another intense night.

Enjoy one last “hurrah” with friends and loved ones:

It’s always important to be hopeful that all the friends you made in college will still be around in the real world. But in case that someone in your group of friends is moving to a different state for a job or is preparing for marriage, show that you will not forget about him or her and make your last year count by celebrating your friendship. Go out bar hopping, go on a shopping trip or take a road trip to the Dells or Cedar Point. Whatever the choice may be, the friendships you have with the people you meet through college are important. They may end up being in your wedding, your future child’s godmother/father or simply a go-to with any problems you have throughout your life.
