On April 29, North Central College is holding its second annual TEDx event, “Changing of the Guards” at Meiley-Swallow Hall. Here are five things you need to know:

1) TEDx is not only a North Central event: The talks are being streamed worldwide here. “This helps the students and the alumni participating to get more exposure for their ideas,” said Whitney Roberts, assistant director of civic engagement.

2) Students and alumni are the big focus of the event: It gives not only students the ability to share their ideas, but it also gives alumni the chance to share what they’ve learned since graduation.

3) The event is held at two places: An audience also gathers at the Union, a venue close to campus, to listen to the talks and discuss for free.

4) There’s also an after-party at the Union: “There will be cupcakes,” said Roberts.

5) It is an interactive experience: Just like regular TED talks, TEDx encourages interaction and discussion between students, alumni and faculty, as well as their audience on and off campus.
