Britney Spears
One of the most recognizable names in pop music, and music in general, Britney Spears returns with her new album “Glory.” Released in August, it is Spears’ ninth studio album. Spears’ hits from early in her career such as “Baby One More Time” and “Oops!…I Did it Again” is sure to make us nostalgic for the late ’90s while her later hits such as “Toxic” and “Womanizer” cement her legacy as “the princess of pop.”
DNCE
After topping the charts last year with their catchy single “Cake by the Ocean,” DNCE will be releasing their self-titled album November 18. After performing together with the Jonas Brothers, lead singer Joe Jonas and drummer Jack Lawless brings their pop rock sound for a new generation.
Fifth Harmony
After performing together on the X Factor USA in 2012, Fifth Harmony has gone from being the Artist to Watch at the MTV Video Music Awards to having their single, “Work from Home,” being in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Their second album that was released earlier this year “7/27,” features “Work from Home” as well as other singles “All in my Head” and “That’s My Girl.”
The Chainsmokers
EDM duo Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall rose to fame in 2014 with their hit “#Selfie” and continued to make appearances at dance festivals such as Ultra Music Festival earlier this year. The single “Closer (feat. Halsey)” dominated the charts this summer along with the song “Don’t Let Me Down (feat. Daya).” Although their debut album has not been confirmed yet, the Chainsmokers definitely have made some noise in the electronic music scene.
G-Eazy
Oakland rapper G-Eazy made his debut in 2014 with his album “These Things Happen” debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 for the top R&B/Hip-Hop albums. His 2015 release “When it’s Dark Out” featured the single “Me, Myself, and I (feat. Bebe Rexha)” which was a hit this past summer and his first top 10 hit. G-Eazy was also featured on the lead single “Make Me…” from Britney Spears’ latest release “Glory.”
Alessia Cara
While some might not be familiar with Alessia Cara, and she is not to be missed. Comparisons to established R&B artists such as Lorde and Rihanna is a statement of Cara’s talent. Her debut album “Know-It-All” was released last year and featured the single “Here,” described as a song for people who secretly hates parties. Her recent collaboration with Troye Sivan and being on tour with Coldplay this past year definitely makes Alessia Cara an artist to watch.
Shawn Mendes
Shawn Mendes can be considered an overnight success after gaining attention by posting cover songs on Vine. His 2015 album “Handwritten” featured the hit song “Stitches” and the single “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with Camila Cabello from Fifth Harmony furthered his fame. His latest album “Illuminate” featured the single “Treat You Better” topped the charts this summer. After touring with Taylor Swift for the 1989 World Tour, he stopped at Jingle Bash as part of his own world tour.
OneRepublic
OneRepublic is certainly a household name in the pop rock world. Their first album was released almost 10 years ago and have definitely had their hits from “Apologize (feat. Timbaland)” to “Counting Stars” from their 2013 album all the way to their latest release “Oh My My” that was released in early October.
