Athletes from various North Central sports had the opportunity to go on Spring Break trips. They mixed business and pleasure competing against many different colleges all across the country. Here are a few of these athletes’ experiences:
Men’s golfer McLean Funk ‘17: “We drove from Naperville to Pinehurst, North Carolina and stopped on the way to play courses in Ohio and Tennessee. Then we played multiple courses in Pinehurst including the Benedictine quad meet. We also ate some great barbecue. The highlight of the trip was playing at Tobacco Road Golf Club with the team.”
Men’s baseball player Sing Fong ’17: “We had eight games in seven days. In our free time we would go eat dinner together on some occasions. Every night concluded by hanging out at the hotel’s hot tub and pool. We were able to make it to the Venice Beach one time. Most of the time we spent at the field.”
Women’s softball player Molly Price ’19: “It was a great way to start the season playing in the warm sunny weather down in Florida. We got to go to the beach and have a nice team dinner at Outback. We got to play games at a complex around where the Minnesota Twins train and also in Naples.”
Men’s tennis player Connor Sass ’17: “We have stayed in the same resort every year after a very long drive down to Hilton Head, South Carolina. We went 4-0 against other teams which is super amazing. Other large things that happened was that I actually got engaged on the trip. We always play tons of pool basketball and we always try to eat as much seafood as we can, specifically at the Sea Shack, it’s our favorite place.”
