What are you afraid of? That’s the question posed by the trailer for the upcoming movie “IT.” The teaser trailer was uploaded to YouTube on March 29, months before it’s theatrical release in September, and has already gained much attention on social media as many who have watched the trailer share their fear and maybe even excitement.
The film was originally a novel by Stephen King, published in 1986, which was then made into a TV miniseries starring Tim Curry as Pennywise. Almost 30 years later, the series has been remade into a feature-length film that references the original in many ways. Those who have seen the 1990 version will recall Georgie chasing after his paper boat before falling victim to Pennywise in a sewer.
While Tim Curry’s Pennywise can appear charming and seemingly harmless, the new clown appears much more sinister.
All seven members of the “Losers Club” appear in the trailer (including Finn Wolfhard from “Stranger Things”) as they try to understand the origin of this mysterious clown before appearing in a family photograph, terrifying the kids and viewers of the trailer. Fans of horror films should definitely be excited as the anticipation begins for what might be the scariest film of the year.
