Bassel & The Supernaturals frontman Bassel Almadani sits down with Mic Drop hosts Peter Medlin and Madeline Klepec to talk about the band’s inspiration, as well as Almadani’s Syrian roots and the impact they have on his music. The show also highlights some of their performance at The Union on Oct. 20 in Naperville, Ill.
Almadani is a first-generation Syrian-American with family still living in Syria, a nation that has been ravaged by a brutal civil war since 2011.
Bassel & The Supernaturals are in the midst of the Amplify Peace Tour. The concerts showcase their “neo-soul funk” tunes while also inspiring awareness of the real people directly involved in a bloody conflict that can, at over 6,000 miles away, feel distant. The tour’s proceeds go to raise money for the Syrian American Medical Society.
Episodes of Mic Drop can be seen live on TheChronicle/NCClinked’s Facebook page every week.
