It was an exciting weekend for North Central, with men’s cross country taking home their 18th national championship. Meanwhile, football advanced to the second round of playoffs, while both men’s and women’s basketball started their seasons.
- The unanimous favorites to win all year long, men’s cross country didn’t disappoint as they cruised to victory at the NCAA Division III Championships to add national championship no. 18 to their collection. The win was never in doubt as the Cardinals finished with 57 points, while UW-La Crosse was a distant second place with 196 points. The future looks bright for North Central who looks to keep the winning streak next year: they return eight out of their top ten, including all four of their All-Americans.
- Men’s football defeated Saint John’s University in their playoff opener 17-7. The Cardinals travel to face a third ranked UW-Oshkosh in the next round.
- Men’s basketball lost their season opener at Heidelberg University 98-93 in a game that took two overtimes to decide.
- Women’s basketball kicked off their season at the Beth Blaker Classic hosted by Wheaton College. The Cardinals fell 71-77 to Louisiana College in their opener, before losing to Lake Forest 75-67 the next day.
