Men’s Basketball

Facing off against the Elmhurst Blue Jays just a week after they snapped the Cardinals’ nine-game winning streak, the hosts got their revenge Saturday inside Gregory Arena. They edged the Blue Jays 87-74 to improve to 15-4 (7-3), just a pair of games behind conference leaders Illinois Wesleyan. Next up for the Cardinals is a midweek matchup against CCIW rival Carthage, who is fresh off an impressive victory over no. 5 Augustana College.

Women’s Basketball

The Cardinals played hosts to CCIW rival Elmhurst on Saturday, but couldn’t keep up with the Blue Jays, falling short 61-41. They look to bounce back with a mid-week game against an equally matched Carroll College.

Men’s Volleyball

It might have been a tough weekend for the Cardinals who faced a pair of ranked opponents and dropped both games, but surely it was a good experience early in the season. First, on Saturday the Cardinals hosted no. 9 Benedictine who edged them 3-1. Sunday the Cardinals traveled to Dominican University to face no. 3 UC-Santa Cruz, who cruised to a 3-0 win. The team is off until Friday when they make the travel to the West Coast for a match against California Lutheran.

Swimming

The men’s and women’s teams both competed in a triangular meet at Illinois Wesleyan alongside Milikin, and both turned identical second-place finishes, edging out Milikin, but falling to the hosts. The Cardinals travel to Wheaton this weekend.

Wrestling

The no. 13  Cardinals competed against a slew of ranked opponents Saturday at the Wheaton College Pete Wilson Invitational, ultimately placing 21st as a team led by Emonte Logan’s first-place effort.

Track and Field

The men’s and women’s teams traveled to UW-Whitewater over the weekend. Friday it was the men’s team, who placed fourth in a nine-team field, led by first-place finishes in the distance medley relay and the 4×400 relay. Saturday was the women’s team, placing fifth. The Cardinals notched a pair of first place finished in the 5k and the shot put.
