With three weeks into spring term, SGA has much planned for the rest of the year. Election ballots, an end-of-the-year survey and active shooter training were among some of the topics discussed today. Check out the full list of what was discussed at this week’s meeting:
- SGA is looking to put out advertisements in Kaufman and in downtown Naperville businesses to promote the OUTreach event that is hosting Obergefell.
- Next Monday, SGA election ballots will open for students to vote for the executive board positions and will be open until Friday. The positions will be announced the following Monday
- SGA did not reach their goal of $300 from their Chipotle fundraiser, so they are looking to do another one, possibly with Potbelly, Buffalo Wild Wings or MOD Pizza.
- There will be another active shooter training May 10 at noon. There will not be an SGA meeting that day because organization members will be attending the training. All student organizations are encouraged to attend.
- Springfest is the week after the active shooter training; more to come on what SGA will be doing to participate.
- SGA will be releasing an end-of-the-year survey for students to fill out. The content of the survey is still under discussion. There will be a question asking about the improvements made at Kaufman this year.
- Shimer College is hosting a coffee bash tomorrow in Seybert at 12 p.m.
- Tomorrow night is the TEDx event with the theme “Know Wonder” in Meiley-Swallow Hall at 7 p.m. Shimer’s Stuart Patterson will be speaking at the event. There will be an after-party at the Center for Social Impact with lights, a DJ and food.
- Honors Convocation will be held May 15 celebrating students’ academic achievements.
All students are free to attend and voice their opinions at the SGA meetings every Thursday at 12 p.m. in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
