NCC has decided to suspend May Term 2021 Cardinal Destination Courses Abroad (CDCA), according to Kimberly Larsson, executive director for the Center for Global Education and assistant dean for International Student Recruitment and Admissions, in a recent email sent to the campus community.
This follows the previous decision of also suspending all education abroad programs for the next spring semester of 2021. The suspension includes SIROL and other summer abroad programs.
“This decision was made in line with current travel and health advisories/warnings issued by the U.S. Department of State and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and takes into account the pandemic landscape across the globe and the challenges facing international travel,” Larsson said in the email.
While suspending May Term study abroad was not hoped for, the College felt it was necessary. The suspension prioritizes the health, wellness and success of students, staff and faculty who planned to travel during that time.
For all returning students, Larsson announced that she will soon send out information regarding May Term 2022 CDCA proposals.
“I look forward to a time – not so far away, I hope – when we will once again be able to freely explore the world, create opportunities for authentic engagement in host countries, and best support the safety, health and success of our Cardinal community abroad, as we always have,” said Larsson.
