NCC has created a program for students titled Students Care. The Dyson Wellness Center (DWC) is collaborating with TimelyMD for 24/7 medical and mental care for full-time registered NCC students. The new program as well as the DWC resources are fully confidential and free.
The DWC sent out an email on Jan. 25 stating the goals of partnering with TimelyMD and their ambitions for the collaboration for a safer, healthier campus.
About TimelyMD
TimelyMD is a company created for colleges and universities for quicker health resources for students. Students Care is accessible through smartphone or laptop to get instant help within an hour. Health support via phone or video visits has been offered since Jan. 25.
Similarly, TimelyMD medical health provides a large range of treatment. Telehealth service can give diagnostics, prescribe medications and develops treatment plans.
Besides medical help, telehealth service also includes TalkNow. This program lets students pick a time to meet with a mental health professional. Dealing with a loss of a loved one, depression or overall stress is difficult, so TalkNow can give direct contact with a professional to talk to.
There is also an opportunity for students to obtain six 45-minute scheduled counseling sessions with a licensed counselor. These resources are all accessible within the Students Care program.
DWC’s response to a collaboration with TimelyMD
Tatiana Sifri, the director of the DWC for over a decade, states in an interview that NCC was looking for a collaborative telehealth service for a while and “noticed that it is helpful for contact tracing,” during the peak COVID-19 rush at the center.
“A certain percentage of students only use telehealth services. We want to reach that smaller pocket of students who might not come to the center,” said Sifri. Whether the gap is due to COVID-19 exposure or the need for human contact, the DWC is available in all formats now. This includes pre-scheduled, in-person appointments.
The DWC office hours are limited during the weekdays, but TimelyMD can be students’ other option. TimelyMD is a great resource for busy schedules, night owls or people who don’t mind virtual connections. The DWC, TimelyMD and emergency services are connected in any situation that may occur within medical or mental services. Sifri and the rest of the DWC have “zero judgment; everyone should use the platform that really works for them.”
