Governor Pritzker has announced in Illinois to lift the indoor mask mandate by Feb. 28. This decision was made due to the metrics that continue to decline as expected within COVID-19 cases. At the beginning of Spring semester, cases spiked on campus. Therefore, controversy arose and decisions to be made within the campus.
“…we are reviewing our current masking policies, studying trends on campus and our region, and exploring options for the remainder of spring semester,” said Peter Barger and Mike Hudson, COVID-IRT Co-Chairs.
In the survey, responses will remain anonymous and a summary of the survey results will be shared. The options include keeping the current indoor masking policy, requiring masks in classrooms, laboratories, and at indoor spectator venues, including athletics and fine and performing arts or implementing an indoor mask-optional policy for the campus community.
The survey will close on Feb. 21 at 5:00 p.m. All campus community members are encourage to partake in the survey.
