On Saturday, Sept. 17 the Cardinal Dance Company (CDC) hosted a gala in Madden Theater. Students were able to enjoy a night of dancing from 8 p.m. till 11 p.m. The gala allowed students to dress up and enjoy a night of dancing inside of the theater. CDC provided seating to sit around and socialize. Madden Theater was largely decorated and prepared for a night of dancing.

Dancing and food

When students arrived at the gala, twinkle lights were hung to decorate inside. Beyond the decoration, students could participate in a night of dancing. Students danced to songs like the cupid shuffle, the cha cha slide and other popular pop songs. Anna Bossler, ’24, DJed the dance as a representative of WONC. In addition to dancing, students could also enjoy refreshments and a variety of food to choose from. A chocolate fondue station was available to students with strawberries, bananas and marshmallows. Food included vegetarian egg rolls, potstickers and fruit.

“The purpose of the Gala was to have an event open to all members of the campus to come and have a good time while being introduced to CDC in a non-dance way. Previously we were known for our jam sessions which are like mini dance classes and showcases. We had a great time with good food and everyone got to dress up and have a fun night,” said Julia Siston, ’24, treasurer for the CDC.

Student reaction

Many students enjoyed the night and were able to spend time with friends on campus.

“I think it’s been really great. It’s really intimate, I really am enjoying it so far. My favorite part is definitely the food, but also seeing everyone in general,” said Jaydon Brown, ’25.

As well as the gala, CDC will host more events throughout the fall semester. Including jam sessions, dancing with the stars watch party and the fall showcase that will be happening at the beginning of the fall.
