Japan Club hosts Onigiri Festival at NCC

On March 2, NCC’s  Japan Club hosted an Onigiri Festival. Onigiri is a Japanese snack made of a ball of rice. Often made as a main dish, it is commonly filled with salted salmon, pickled ume or any other salty or sour ingredient. During the event, students had the chance to mix salted plum, okaka, mentaiko and other ingredients together to make their own onigiri.

Participants got to make their own onigiri using hands-on methods to create their own unique shapes. After working hard to make their own onigiri, participants then enjoyed the fruits of their labor. After speaking to some participants, the most popular flavor turned out to be tuna and mayonnaise. Multiple students returned for seconds of their favorite combinations. More information on onigiri and recipe combinations is available here. Those interested can keep up with the Japan Club on campus as well on their Instagram page.
