So far, the warm days have been few and far between, but with April finally here, it looks like warmer weather will start to stick around longer. Unfortunately for us, that means finals are fast approaching, but there’s no better way to get ready for them than to do a little cleaning and give yourself a calming space to relax and study in.
Cleaning your room can seem like a daunting task, trust me, I get it. Spring cleaning can be difficult, but that’s why I am here! Show this list to your roommate if you have one, and you can do this together.
Time to do some laundry
First things first, get your linens together. All of them. Bedsheets, towels and clothes. Don’t worry about throwing them all in at once. Take your time and make sure to wash them. After they’re clean, fold and organize them! Putting away clothes makes more of a difference than we think.
All you need is some elbow grease
Second, if you have a fridge, clean that out. If you don’t have a fridge, clean out your desk. Get rid of all the knickknacks, scraps of paper and things that don’t need to be there. With a desk free of debris, you have a clean place to study and do homework.
Lastly, wipe down everything with some multi-purpose cleaner and a wet rag, including your desk. Sanitize everything. And I do mean everything: doorknobs, remotes and anything else that other people touch. Wiping down will get rid of the dust and dirt that settles on your furniture over time. Vacuuming or sweeping is the next step because all that dust needs to go.
Take a break
Fourth, relax. Whether it takes you an hour or multiple days to do this, it doesn’t matter. You did a good job cleaning your space, and now you should settle down, put on some fuzzy socks, and make yourself comfy.
Hopefully, these tips make the moving out process easier for you once finals are done because it is easy for your space to get a little crazy towards the end of the year. However, let’s try not to reflect the chaos of finals in our rooms. Plus, a little laundry detergent and cleaning supplies can go a long way.
