Gisele Bündchen came out with a cookbook on March 26 called “Nourish.” This cookbook is unique because it not only has recipes, but she also talks about her experiences with mental health issues and how changing her diet helped her mental health.

Bündchen’s experiences

Before talking about her new cookbook, it’s important to know her backstory, which she talks about in both her cookbook and when she appeared on the talk show “The View” to promote it. When Bündchen was 14, she became a signed model at a modeling agency and was also emancipated.

By age 22, Bündchen had severe anxiety, depression and panic attacks. She even considered suicide at one point during a panic attack she had one day. Bündchen worked a lot and kept pressing on. She ate junk food, smoked and drank. She would smoke throughout the day, drink wine at night and have caffeine in the morning and later in the day. Bündchen ate what they had on set, such as pastries. At night, she ate junk food or something easy. She also wasn’t getting enough sleep. This all contributed to her worsening mental health.

One day, she saw an osteopath—a professional who takes a holistic approach to medical treatment. They told Bündchen that her diet needed to change, the amount of sleep she was getting needed to be increased and she needed to exercise.

Within this book, she has recipes for healthy foods to eat, including gluten-free foods.

More about “Nourish”

In addition to telling her story and her experiences, she writes what her daily routine is. She also advises on how to manage one’s stress. Bündchen has a list of supplements that she uses, and she explains what each is for. Additionally, she has a list of what is in her pantry, as well as a list of what teas she likes best.

Throughout this cookbook, there are photos of Bündchen and of her and her children. She dedicated this book to them.

Under the table of contents, some of the categories Bündchen has recipes for are salads, fruits, soups, proteins, sweets, breakfasts and more! These are all split into sections with recipes that fit under those categories. She accompanies the recipes with pictures of the foods. Bündchen has recipes from smoothies, to granola, to hummus, to mousse and so on. Throughout the book, the colors pop and are very vibrant. This book is insightful and offers recipes that look delicious.

Audience

This cookbook has many audiences. The primary audience for this cookbook is people who want to eat healthier. But it’s more than that. For those living with anxiety, panic attacks, or depression, this book is for them. Bündchen hopes that hearing her story may help.

She discusses things she does as a parent. Additionally, she talks about meditation. This book truly has a lot of information, including her recommendations.

In essence, for those discovering a new favorite recipe or gaining inspiration from her personal story, the cookbook provides a glimpse into Bündchen’s philosophy on food and its connection to overall health.
