General election 2024: live updates

The Presidential race is called for Trump, with Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan adding their electoral college votes to his campaign. ABC, CNN and The New York Times all confirm his acquisition of the 270 electoral votes necessary to win the election.

1:02 am – Swing states are still counting votes, with Pennsylvania the potential decider of the presidential race. Our coverage and updates will pause for the night and begin again at 8 am.

11:49 pm – The New York Times and ABC confirm Georgia flips to Republican for the presidential race.

11:38 pm – CNN projects Georgia for Trump. However, ABC, AP and The New York Times are still waiting.

11:02 pm – Nevada results are facing delays, as CNN reports only 62 of 135 polling places in Clark County are closed.

10:35 pm – The News York Times reports Trump to win North Carolina. Other news organizations still waiting for confirmation.

10:32 pm – Results still coming in from swing states. The New York Times places Harris at 187 and Trump at  230 electoral college votes. CNN places Harris at 153 and Trump at 211 electoral college votes. ABC reports Harris at 172 and Trump at 214 electoral college votes.

10:12 pm – CNN reports that a judge has granted a restraining order against people recording, threatening and intimidating voters in Michigan.

10:04 pm – Harris is projected by CNN to win California, her home state. Trump is predicted by CNN and ABC to win Iowa.

9:44 pm – CNN projects Trump to win Iowa and Kansas. CNN also reports that logjams in North Carolina may delay election data from appearing online.

9:33 pm – According to CNN, a large batch of votes from Georgia will be posted soon. NBC warns that while polls have closed in Nevada, results may take a few hours.

As of CNN reporting at 9:24, Milwaukee “has counted more than 63,000 out of about 107,000 absentee ballots”, including the 30,000 ballots that were recounted due to tabulator machine error.

As of 9:10 pm, multiple polling places in swing states will be staying open later. CNN states that two polling places in Pennsylvania will remain open due to delays caused by bomb threats. In addition, voters in Nevada are waiting in long lines. Polls in Nevada close at 9 pm, however people in line can voter even after polling closes.

ABC projects Colorado for Harris.

As of 9:03 pm, ABC news projects that the abortion rights amendment to be defeated in Florida. CNN projects Trump to win Utah, and Montana.

AP calls Missouri for Trump. Polls in Montana, Nevada and Utah will be closing at 9 pm. CNN also predicts Trump to win Louisiana.

According to Associated Press and ABC, New York is projected to approve an amendment supporters say would adjust the state constitution’s language to protect abortion. Maryland is also expected to approve a similar measure according to ABC.

According to both The New York Times and ABC of 8:30 pm, the candidates are projected to have won these states:

Harris: Illinois (19), New York (28), Vermont (3), Massachusetts (11), Rhode Island (4), Maryland (10) and Delaware (3).

Trump: North Dakota (3), South Dakota (3), Wyoming (3), Indiana (11), Ohio (17), West Virginia (4), Kentucky (8), Tennessee (11), South Carolina (9), Alabama (9), Florida (30), Arkansas (6), Oklahoma (7), Louisiana (8) and Texas (40).
