SGA meeting highlights D-term events, parking and printing

Even though fall term is winding down, the Student Governing agenda continues to expand. Red bike waitlists, Kaufman’s finals schedule, D-term event availability and a host of other NCC issues hit the docket this afternoon. Check out the topics discussed in week nine’s meeting:

  • Printing credits for education majors may need to be raised, a major that perennially requires many print copies of assignments/lesson plans.
  • Chartwells officials will begin conducting “on site insight” meetings with students once per term, discussing improvements with dining services on campus.
  • Shimer SGA liaisons are investigating the prospect of acquiring a printer and desktop for Seybert Hall.
  • NCC is looking to change some resident parking lots to commuter lots, going forward. They are seeking to add 60-80 more spaces for commuters.
  • Commuters also would like to re-evaluate food prices on campus for students without an extensive meal plan.
  • Concerns have been voiced over a lack of red bikes available on campus. Around 100 students currently sit on the bike waitlist.
  • SGA is reaching out about getting additional tickets for D-term events, all of which are sold out.
  • The “Ban the Bottle” initiative aimed at reducing one-use bottles on campus continues to coordinate with North Central departments.
  • The “downtown meal plan” is still on the agenda. The organization is now exploring “discount days” with downtown restaurants as well as businesses for NCC students.
  • SGA also seeks to expand its branding and merchandise.
  • Student Governing will also hold open forums for students to voice concerns/suggestions next term.

Anyone may make their voice heard and attend SGA meetings from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 132 of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
