“Can I Get A Witness,” an art exhibit that will consist of media representations of the theme, “Witness,” opens at North Central in honor of MLK Week. The exhibit will display what witnessing has looked like in the past, present and future in regards to social justice.
This event will include photographs from the North Central College Archives as well as by world-renowned photographer Bernard Klein, who is responsible for capturing one of the first full-color photographs of Martin Luther King Jr. Photographs from David Johnson’s, ’08, speech at the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Jan. 15 also will be on display. Steven Martin, who has produced several films and has been published in media circuits such as the Washington Post and USA Today, will also have photos on display.
Images of when Dr. King visited Chicago and the recent Charlottesville protests will also be featured.
Diversity monologues given by students sharing their personal experiences and what it means to “Witness” will similarly be a part of the presentation.
“Can I Get A Witness” will take place on Jan. 18 in Wentz Concert Hall Lobby at 5 p.m.
