Terri Hemmert of WXRT is the curator of Chicago a capella’s “The History of Rock and Soul, Part 2” performance. The event will be April 15 at 4 p.m at Wentz Concert Hall on North Central’s campus.

The concert will feature songs ranging from Elton John to Lady Gaga. The show will also include new arrangements by the music director emeritus of Chicago a capella, Patrick Sinozich.

Hemmert is famously known for playing “Chicago’s Finest Rock” on WXRT for more than 40 years. She became Chicago’s first female morning drive personality in 1981. In 1992, she moved into her current position as the mid-day disc jockey on the station.

By 2010, Hemmert had been inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2010. Hemmert has also taught college courses at Columbia College Chicago pertaining to the history of rock and soul.

The group, Chicago a cappella, is on their 25th season under the direction of Jonathan Miller. Chicago Magazine has called the group “the best unaccompanied group.” Chicago Tribune says they are “the city’s liveliest, most versatile vocal ensemble.”
