Professor Madormo Part 1:

Professor Madormo, advisor to North Central College’s radio station WONC 89.1 FM, shares about the building of a radio station. His foundation begins with jumping right into competitions. How has this tactic benefited them? They came home with eight awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Silver Dome Awards on September 13th.

Professor Madormo Part 2:

The new science center location is in the works. WONC’s location is one of the few possibilities. There are perks to being located on one of the busiest streets in Downtown Naperville. Everyone knows where you’re located and publicity skyrockets. This could be a very good reason for the school to choose the radio station’s location. What will this mean for WONC?

Kevin Jackman:

Station Manager, Kevin Jackman, attended the Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Silver Dome Awards. He shares his experience at the event and what his future goals are involving broadcasting. Now being a senior, after his eight years of experience in high school and college, Jackman suggests anyone who is interested in getting involved to “do as much as [they]can” when they walk through the station’s doors.

Jeremy Rushing:

WONC gives you on the job training. Senior Jeremy Rushing speaks on the opportunities the radio offers. One of the most influential skills that he learned was being able to talk to someone he has never met and have a full-blown conversation for an interview. The entire experience for Rushing is indescribable.

Jared Shlensky:

Dedication. Dedication. Dedication. That is what Senior Jared Shlensky believes sets WONC apart from other college radio stations. Not even just that, but the hands on experience as well. That is what sold him when he came into North Central College his freshman year. Shlensky shares his experience with the station and where he thinks it is going to go in the future as far as competing in broadcasting competitions
