Keeping up with fall TV

Fall is the season that brings about the changing of the leaves, cooler temperatures and the airing of various TV series.

Numerous TV networks have recently begun to air their fall programs, including both returning shows and new TV series premiers. Some of these shows include ABC’s fourth season of “Once Upon a Time,” the return of the popular show “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS, and the premiere of Fox’s new drama series “Gotham.”

With all of these shows airing during the time of school, students turn to different mediums to keep up with their favorite TV series.

Typically, new TV episodes air every week. As a college student, sometimes that is a hard schedule to keep up with. However, some students manage to find the time to sit down, relax and watch their favorite shows.

“I stick to the [live]TV shows as they air,” says junior Pat Rourke, whose favorite show currently is “Blacklist.” “I just like to be able to keep up with the TV shows every week.”

But for those students that cannot watch their shows when they air on TV, they turn to other sources, such as their computers.

“I usually stick to Netflix,” says senior Luke Habeeb. “I don’t like to wait every week because I am impatient. I like binge watching. Plus, I like to watch one series at a time to keep them all straight.” Habeeb’s current, preferred TV series is “True Detective.”

Junior Alexa Mancillas is currently involved with the TV shows “Grimm” and “Sleepy Hallow.” She says although these fall TV shows are enjoyable, they sometimes can be inconvenient to watch while trying to balance school. She explains recording these missed episodes seems to work for her.

When asked if a majority of TV series should be aired during season, Manciallas defends fall time TV stating, “I think that they should leave them how they are. Not everyone has the same schedule. I mean I don’t have the same schedule as others, so those who work 9-5 are able to watch them. That does not mean we should stop airing shows in the fall.”

With trying to keep up as a student balancing classes as well as other commitments, fall TV shows may seem inconvenient at times. However, fall TV is a nice way to kick back every once in a while and enjoy a good quality show no matter how or when you watch it.
