Sustainability and mushrooms on the menu for week 4 SGA meeting

Student Governing Association president Connor McGury presided over the week four meeting of the SGA, where they discussed a multitude of topics. Here is what you may want and need to know:

  • They discussed TurboVote, a program that helps students to get enrolled to vote in elections. They intend to reach out to some of the political science professors for help and to potentially set up tables in Kaufman and the Cage to raise awareness.
  • The Harold R. Wilde Distinguished Service award was brought up, and the members deliberated on what faculty member would receive it. The name of the winner will be announced at a later date.
  • The new patio being built outside New Hall was discussed, with the main subject being that the furniture moving for it should be finished soon, presumably April 20.
  • Student Leadership Awards are May 9. It is a semi-formal affair and if one wishes to be a part of it, there is still time to register.
  • A Facebook page for the Office of Sustainability will put up information regarding reducing waste on the move-out at the end of the spring term. There will be a discussion on related events.
  • SGA executive positions will be announced Monday, April 23.
  • Teaching Kitchen is next week with stuffed portobello mushrooms on the menu.

Anyone can make their voice heard and attend SGA meetings from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 132 of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
