NCC’s annual Study Abroad Fair was held on September 30th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Stevenson Hall, Wentz Science Center. Students and staff from around the globe were present for answering questions and giving advice.

Many of the students were current or previous participants in the program. A lot of information was available to not only new students, but returning ones too.  For instance, tables gave out brochures and showcased items from their respective countries.

“I want learn about other universities available and open to exchange students,” says Valeriia Chobotok, a Ukrainian exchange student

Foreign programs visiting include countries Costa Rica, China, New Zealand, Italy and Greece. Also, Cardinal Destination Courses Abroad, representing other schools and countries for May term trips.

Programs

Students were first asked about majors and minors, and matched with the schools which fit those best. There are 38 programs in over 21 countries. There is a wide selection of distances, costs and locations.

Certainly, benefits of studying abroad include becoming a more informed global citizen, having a unique education, expanding communication and leadership skills.

COVID-19 Challenges

The programs encounter difficulties due to COVID-19.

“COVID-19 impacted some programs a lot, and the more trips to airports, hotels, the more challenging it is,” says Professor Cordero of the Mexico city program.

Programs like the Mexico city one which only require one flight have remained largely unchanged. However, others have seen many changes to accommodate student safety.
