The Student Government Association (SGA) Soirée was held on March 24 in the Wentz Concert Hall & Madden Theatre. SGA structured the Soirée to include a series of different events from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. First came the Cocktail Hour, afterwards the Soirée reception and then the Soirée itself.

SGA is the governing body for the students at North Central College. The goal of SGA is to foster a cohesive and united student body by accepting diversity and acting with integrity. Additionally, they try to represent all students’ interests and reallocate more than half a million dollars to student organizations on campus each academic year. This was the second year that the SGA held the soirée.

Cocktail hour

At the start of the night, the cocktail event started in the Madden Theatre lobby. The organizers allowed attendees 21 years of age or older to attend the event, where they served hors d’oeuvres with non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. There was a selection of beer and wine, but organizers kept it to a limited amount.

Soirée reception

Following the cocktail hour, the reception opened to all students. They hosted this in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby. Students entered dressed in formal clothes. Moreover, the Soirée consisted of a mocktail bar, finger food, a briefing from the SGA Cabinet and student remarks. Students of all years attended, and many enjoyed the different refreshments and snacks served.

Paulina Bogdan, ’24, President of SGA, shared her thoughts about the event.

“I am very proud of all of the effort that my team and I put in. We got a lot of positive feedback from students and always enjoy hearing about things that we can improve or keep for the following years,” said Bogdan.

The Soirée

They hosted the Soirée itself in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby. Last year’s DJ, Frankie French, returned to get the party started. At this point, students took to the dance floor, and many got to socialize with friends. In addition, SGA had a senior announcement and senior raffle to celebrate the graduating class, giving away AirPods and a Keurig.
