Pancake dinner at NCC dining hall

As students prepared to leave campus for the summer, Kaufman Dining Hall, in conjunction with the Office of Residence Life, hosted a late-night pancake dinner. The chefs served a plethora of pancakes, hashbrowns, sausages and donuts.

The event, starting at 10 pm, is always a fan favorite with NCC students. Students begin lining up for the pancake dinner long in advance of the actual start time. When the doors open, it becomes a free-for-all. Students are always very excited for some free, late-night fueling food!

NCC student, Morgan Williams, ’23, expressed her love for the pancake dinner.

“I look forward to going every semester, because it is a great way to get away from the stress of studying for finals. Instead, I am able to enjoy the company of my friends and the NCC community,” said Williams.

Alongside lots of delicious food, students participated in active raffles for loads of new NCC merchandise and apparel. Each student received two raffle tickets upon entry to the event. Prizes included tote bags, sweatshirts, t-shirts, pajama pants, water bottles and more!

Who doesn’t like pancakes?

This dinner is a welcoming event to all, even first-timers! Student, Heather Hellquist, ’24, shared her thoughts on the tradition.

“This was my first time going to the pancake dinner. Other than the fact that I did not win the raffle, I was so glad I went, because it was definitely a great pick-me-up after having the first day of finals. I love the fact that I got 2 two plates of hashbrowns. It was so fun to meet up with everyone and dine together,” said Hellquist.

Pancakes are not just for those who live on campus. This is an event welcome to all NCC students. Even if you commute, you are more than welcome to join your fellow classmates in fellowship for a nice, late night meal. NCC student, Phillip Roman, ’24, also gave his thoughts on the experience and what it means to him, as a commuter, to be included in on-campus events.

“Not only is breakfast food my favorite, but the pancake dinner gave me a chance as a commuter to attend an event with other commuter friends and friends that lived on campus. Seeing everyone on campus come together to have dinner and a good time was great to be a part of. I definitely had lots of fun and I would 10/10 recommend,” said Roman.

Overall, this event has repeatedly proven to be very successful. Always having a great turnout, it is safe to say that the pancake dinner is a staple here at NCC. This dinner is an ongoing campus-wide event that happens biannually throughout the year and will occur next year as well.
