Olivia Rodrigo captivates Chicago with ‘GUTS’ tour and surprise deluxe album drop.
Olivia Rodrigo brought her highly anticipated GUTS tour to the United Center in Chicago with a powerhouse performance that captivated the sold-out crowd. The 21-year-old pop phenom delved into chart-topping tracks from her debut album “SOUR” and performed every song from the standard version of her sophomore album “GUTS.”
Surprise deluxe edition revealed
Amidst the excitement, Rodrigo made a surprising announcement during the encore as she performed “get him back!”
As purple lights shined and she sang “So I write him all these letters and I throw them in the trash” the music stopped. With the help of her dancers, she unfolded a piece of paper that said “GUTS DELUXE OUT FRIDAY.” Her dancers held signs with the title of each new track as well. This dramatic reveal sent fans into a frenzy of cheering. Rodrigo teased the deluxe version by treating the audience to a live rendition of her new track, “obsessed,” at each concert. Four out of five of the deluxe tracks were also hidden tracks on the standard version of the “GUTS” vinyl.

Undeniably, Rodrigo’s stage presence is amplified by choreographed dance numbers, surprising many fans who had heard her say she wasn’t much of a dancer. Additionally, her chemistry with her band was also on full display. Particularly, her performance during “obsessed” highlighted their chemistry as she jammed along with them. This did not go unnoticed by Rodrigo, as she pointed at all the glitter and purple outfits that she could see from the stage. After the show ended, she went around greeting fans against the barricade and collecting letters, flowers and other gifts.
