The North Central College Cardinals traveled to Rock Island, Ill. on Saturday, Nov. 7 to take on the Augustana College Vikings for their second-to-last College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) game. The team emerged victorious with a 27-10 win.

As a team, the Vikings had a total of 5 rushing yards on 26 attempts while the Cardinals produced a total of 224 yards rushing on 50 attempts. Despite the Vikings low rushing production their one and only touchdown came on a 3-yard rush to cap off a 50-yard drive.

Three of North Central’s touchdowns came on the ground by three different Cardinals, one each by freshman quarterback Justin Hunniford (’19), junior quarterback Dylan Warden (’17), and sophomore running back Austin Breunig (’18).

The passing game was almost a similar story. Even though the Vikings dominated in the air with a total of 206 yards, they threw four interceptions, two of which were intercepted by senior linebacker Kevin Schroeder (’16), and one by both senior defensive back Richard Zirngibl (’16) and sophomore defensive back Tyler Oakley (’18).

North Central passed for 143 yards and one 11-yard passing touchdown to senior Jeremy Niklos (’16). The Cardinals go into their final home game which will be senior night against Elmhurst College standing at a record of 6-3 overall with a conference record of 5-1.
