Welcome to Let’s Talk NCC. In today’s episode, we’ll talk about mental health and how it impacts our education. This podcast is hosted by Molly Triplett. Triplett is a first-year student at NCC who is double majoring in psychology and writing with a minor in Spanish.

Let’s Talk NCC will cover a variety of topics including controversy, student life, wellness and more! Let’s Talk NCC episodes will also be available on Soundcloud to stream and listen to. In this second episode, NCC Dyson Wellness Center counselor, Matthew Marjan, joins Triplett. Marjan speaks about his career in mental health and how mental health impacts school performance.

He raises an important topic about why caring for mental health is important. Marjan also gives a brief background on his education and how he came to NCC. In this episode, Marjan provides great resources for students to access on and off campus if they’re ever struggling. This episode goes into great length describing different experiences someone can have while struggling and ways to cope. He also gives advice for athletes who may experience these struggles. Marjan speaks on more important topics such as depression and anxiety, along with touching on stereotypes of mental health awareness. Most importantly, he speaks about how to help those having a hard time understanding what people go through.
