On Thursday, Dec. 5 NCC’s student worship organization, Focus, celebrated their annual “Classy Christmas” party. Starting off with catered Chipotle and a Christmas decorated cake, students were able to relax and enjoy time with friends before the busy week of finals began. Then, students gathered in the chapel to sing Christmas songs and to listen to a Christmas story. After, students could have participated in a karaoke competition which many enjoyed. Songs chosen ranged from the classic Christmas songs, to the new “Popular” from “Wicked” by Ariana Grande.
Focus is an interdenominational worship group on campus and they welcome any and all students on campus to join worship services every Thursday at 9 p.m. in Koten Chapel on the North end of campus near the library. Each week a student speaks about their testimony, lessons God has taught them and how to apply them to your life. This is in addition to singing worship songs in between, followed by fellowship after. They always say, “Come early, stay late, and be blessed!”
President of Focus, Lauren Pesola, ’26, wanted this end of the semester event to have an emphasis on community and of course the true meaning of Christmas.
“Classy Christmas is by far Focus’ favorite, largest, and most fun event! It is a big end of year Christmas celebration where we all get together, dress up, eat, worship, and have some Christmas fun! We cater Chipotle, sing Karaoke, and most importantly read a Christmas story and the Birth of Jesus incorporated with some Christmas Worship songs,” said Pesola. “This year we decided to call it “The Focus Family’s Classy Christmas” because when I became President at the start of the year, I wanted to emphasize how much of a loving, family environment Focus truly is. So we started calling ourselves the “Focus Fam” and wanted to incorporate that into Classy Christmas! Focus is all about community and that is what Classy Christmas is all about! It’s a party where we can come together and celebrate the true meaning of the Christmas season.”
