Early morning fire in New Hall; no injuries reported

The Naperville Fire Department responded to a fire in a room in New Hall at around 2:30 a.m. today; the fire was quickly put out and no injuries were reported. Campus Safety also responded to the fire alarm and students were evacuated to Gregory Arena in Merner, according to North Central College officials.

“When we got out of the building I thought it was some cruel prank, but as the time passed, and fire trucks zipped by, I realized there was actually a fire. I’m so grateful that nobody got hurt,” said student Lily Yood, ‘17 She is a New Hall resident who lives on the third floor.

According to officials, the fire was accidental and the investigation continues.

“I was scared at first when fire trucks and ambulances continued to arrive, but glad that the situation was responded to quickly,” said fourth-floor resident Courtney Clement, ‘17.

Grace Goodwyn, ‘17, who resides on the second floor said, “Well, at first I thought it was going to be no big deal, especially with how many times the alarm went off in Schneller last year but then as minutes turned into hours, I was definitely more concerned. I was relieved when I heard nobody was hurt in the ordeal.”
