College journalists mentor Vito Martinez students

For the second year in a row, students from the A. Vito Martinez Middle School newspaper club spent a few hours learning from and practicing journalism alongside NCC students.

The eight students spent about three-and-a-half hours with journalism majors and Chronicle/ncclinked staff members to form story ideas, interview and create online content. Their three separate group articles covered three different beats: pop culture, the arts and campus news. The articles can be found on ncclinked.com.

After completing their stories, the students sat in on the weekly staff meeting for the news team to see firsthand how a campus news operations works. In true journalistic tradition, donuts and pizza were added features of the day.
