Fresh off winning the program’s first CCIW title since 2010, the NCC wrestling team now looks ahead to its next challenge: the Midwest Regional Championships in Dubuque, Iowa on Feb. 24.

The Cardinals (12-2, 4-0) remained the 12th ranked team in the country heading into regionals. Emonte Logan is ranked 8th individually in the 285-weight class, while Tyler Vittal is 10th in the 197-weight class. If they place high enough, the wrestlers will compete at the national championships in Cleveland on March 9-10.

Host North Central tallied 123.5 points at the conference championships on Feb. 8, nine points ahead of runner-up Millikin, while Elmhurst finished third with 100 points to win the conference crown inside Gregory Arena.

Freshman Egan Berta (157) and Vittal (197) won their respective brackets, while Moe Mitchell (125), Matt Marcotte (174), Ben Williamson (149) and Logan (285) made the finals but ultimately lost their championship matches.

The Cardinals also got third place finishes from Marc Fleenor (133) and Anthony Rink (141) while Cameron Hayes (165) placed fifth and Evan Stingily (184) sixth.
