No word on campus closings at NCC

In the midst of extreme winter weather, NCC made the decision to not open campus until 12 p.m. today, Jan. 28. All classes and events at or after noon occurred as normal.

Due to the predicted forecast for the rest of the week, some are wondering if the College will be closed in part or in full between Jan. 29 and possibly even Jan. 31.

According to the National Weather Service, Naperville (and DuPage County at large) could see wind chills as low as -55 degrees between Tuesday night and Thursday morning.

The Chronicle contacted Student Affairs, and as of 7 p.m. today, had not received a response regarding plans for a closure.

One part of the College, the basketball program, has already made a call regarding the weather. According to @ncc_athletics on Instagram, “All @ccia_athletics basketball games scheduled for Wednesday have been pushed back due to the forecasted weather.”

Many other schools and universities in the Chicago area have already released announcements via Twitter regarding school closure for the next two or three days, including DePaul University, Northwestern University, the University of Chicago and Illinois State.

DePaul University has canceled all classes after 5:30 p.m. for tomorrow and all classes all day the following day due to the weather forecast. The University of Chicago has also canceled all classes and extracurriculars for Wednesday.

Northwestern University and Notre Dame have gone as far as canceling school from tomorrow evening all the way to Thursday afternoon.
