NCAA basketball tournament: what to know for this weekend

0

This Friday and potentially Saturday, the North Central men’s basketball team will be participating in yet another NCAA Division III Basketball Championship. This time, however, they will be hosting first- and second-round games on their home court.

This is their fourth straight tournament appearance and first time hosting since 2013, which is also the year they made their only Final Four run in program history.

The schedule for this weekend’s games is as follows. On Friday, Loras College (Iowa) will be facing Albion College (Michigan) at 5:30 p.m. Then, the Cardinals will be taking on Chatham University (Pennsylvania) at 7:30 p.m. The student section theme for that game will be a blackout. The winners of the two games will then play on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the second round.

Because this is an official NCAA event, everyone has to be charged for admission, including students. The price for regular patrons will be $10, and students with an ID will be charged half price at $5.

Parking congestion will be a factor for this weekend, but Campus Safety will be working to accommodate everyone. The faculty lot will be partially blocked for the event to provide parking for other spectators. The parking garage by Res/Rec will be blocked from regular patrons to provide parking for students.
