BREAKING NEWS | Recent bias incident strikes campus

2

The spring semester has just started and already a major bias incident has been reported on campus. On Monday, Jan. 20, the Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) was notified of an incident that occurred on Thursday, Jan. 16.

Originally an email was sent out by BIRT to the campus community, but was not received by students that said, “A student of Middle Eastern origin returned to their residence hall room and discovered a note had been slipped under their door that read ‘terrorist.'”

At 11:02 a.m. Student Affairs sent out an email to the entire campus community that now included students.

Campus Safety is currently looking into the situation and is trying to find the culprit of this incident. Community meetings will be in the residence hall where the incident occurred. However, the name of the residence hall has not been released by the school.

Support services and resources have since been offered to the impacted student. They are also available to others who have been personally affected by this or other bias incidents.

Locations of support for students include but are not limited to the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Dyson Wellness Center.

BIRT has made it clear that “This is a very serious matter and the College wants to hold accountable the person or persons who committed this act.”

If anyone has any additional information regarding this incident, please contact Campus Safety immediately by calling 630-637-5911. Anonymous phone calls can be made to the Campus Conduct Hotline at 866-943-5787.

  1. Yes, racism is wrong. Did you ever consider how the administration at North Central College quickly responds to the politically correct stuff, but NEVER addresses how they covered up a sexual assault or three on campus bc that looks bad? It’s all about looking good. I was falsely arrested for telling the truth on campus. @SavageCodeTruth

    • Not a note! Omg no! Wait? Have you called homeland security? How do you know that the note was bias? Maybe someone knows something that you don’t. “If you see something say something.” How do we know that you are not really a terrorist front thats bringing in middle eastern extremists to our nation to hurt America and destroy our way of life? Have you done through background checks on your members. Are you a nonprofit? If you are a school basded group does your school recive federal funding?
