Campus Safety warns community of potentially dangerous individual

On Jan. 23 Campus Safety sent out a Safety Bulletin to inform the campus about  “an individual who has made comments indicating that he may be a risk of harming others.”

While the email does not specify the comments or the threats specifically, it names the person of concern as Quintin Peterson.

Peterson was issued a “No Trespass” order on Dec. 9 and was arrested by the Naperville Police Department for violating this sanction.

According to the email, “The College will continue to work with local law enforcement agencies, and we can report that today Mr. Peterson was taken into custody for comments he made indicating potential harm to others.”

Peterson is not known to be previously aggressive toward others, but Campus Safety urges people to call 9-1-1 if Peterson is spotted on campus.

Kevin McCarthy, assistant vice president for student affairs, said that there is a level of urgency with this situation because the student has not complied with no trespassing orders. He was taken into custody for violating this.

McCarthy urges students and community members to be aware of your surroundings and call Campus Safety if something feels off.

To report information or concerns call the Office of Campus Safety at 630-637-5911.

Campus Safety has been contacted for further comment.
